On the fourth day of Christmas...
...my true love gave to me,
Four frosty blips,
Three Danish danglers,
Two Christmas reindeer,
And a new star to hang upon the tree!
Actually made it out of the house today, for a family outing on a gorgeous, frosty, but oh so cold, day!
First stop was for coffee at the medieval village of Castle Combe in Wiltshire, where the sun was glinting on the 14th century market cross.
Then on to Lacock, a village owned almost in its entirety by the National Trust, and famous for its picturesque streets, historic buildings and more recently as a TV and film location due to its unspoiled appearance. After a wonderful lunch beside a roaring log fire at The Sign of the Angel, a 15th Century coaching inn, we paid a quick visit to Lacock Abbey where William Henry Fox Talbot created the first ever photographic negative in 1835.
Now back home again in the warm, I think we may just squeeze in a little more eating and drinking! Happy Fourth Day of Christmas!!
