Snow, ice and sun

Plenty of snow and ice today and beautiful blue skies too.

We decided on a favourite walk in the hills. The road is single track and was icy but my car was chugging up without problem until we met a car coming down just yards from where we were going.
There was nowhere for me to go so he attempted to reverse without success. His wheels were spinning and smoke coming from them. At one point he was coming towards me while steering his car from outside the vehicle! At this point we decided to reverse down the hill though sliding was more accurate. We managed to turn round part way and drove down deciding to go somewhere flat and ended up doing a walk that ended at Oswestry Racecourse (disused now). The snow was frozen hard and crispy which was lovely for walking.

This is the frozen pond there, it was beautiful with the late afternoon sun.

We had met people that we know and were invited back for tea, stollen, tart and a lovely chat all by a roaring fire. A great end to the day!
