Memorial....
A quiet day which almost happened without me leaving the house. Having shipped off my other half with some of his family to Crewe for the football (PNE v Crewe), I walked down to my local park - Brampton Park, only a matter of minutes way.
It was cold but crisp and sunny. I had been intrigued by a seated statue which had recently appeared in the park. You can see this figure when you drive past, as the park is quite open to the road.
I now know it's a First World War memorial. Our local connection is Vera Brittain - she was born in Newcastle-under-Lyme. In fact, the street you can see in the background to this photo, is where she and her family lived. I'm so pleased I went to investigate.
