Following on an unsuccessful attempt earlier this year to attract Crested Barbets to set up home in a videocam equipped nesting box, I have now down some refurbishment and replaced it back in the tree.
The previous box had a smooth interior wood surface which may have put the birds (hole nesters) off a bit. It is now lined with a carpet tile that I have cut to fit, and the texture of the surface is more akin to the fibre of the nesting logs which they normally use.
Here's hoping for better results this time around.
