Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

December 22, 2014 Christmas Package

Watching the many USPS videos on Facebook this holiday season has reminded me of Christmases of long ago when my mom's mom, we called her Nanny, would send us one of her delicious pound cakes.

There must have been a cube/stick of butter in every slice. The wonderful texture and taste of that dessert created a yearly desire and a lasting memory. It oozed with sweet savory flavor.

In early December we'd begin watching for her package, in brown wrapping paper tied with twine, to arrive at our home in Norwalk, CA, from her southern home in Columbus, Georgia.

Nanny was a very short woman who was almost as wide as she was tall. Her days were spent in her kitchen or her vegetable garden.

Our Christmas season would officially begin when Nanny's pound cake arrived in our mailbox.

Good night from Southern California,
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka
