Basil Dons The Purple

Basil joined in the fun on Boxing Day and wore a paper hat, which he lost when we got to Western Park for his run.

Len, Basil and I were stuck on Charnwood Forest tonight for around 20 minutes after heavy snow made it impossible for our Yaris to get traction. A call to Green Flag was to no avail. Nobody was available to answer the phone.

We were saved by a couple of factors. (1) A convoy of cars arrived on the road led by a more powerful motor, (2) the snow stopped and because the temperature was just above freezing, the vehicle tracks began to thaw slightly.

Despite my entreaties to return to Anstey and to take the motorway, Len pressed on. Police had closed Nanpantan Road into Loughborough which gives you an indication of the conditions.

We made it home one hour 40 minutes after leaving George and Kat's house in Leicester.

Len assures me that another time, he will take the motorway...
