visiting

Yes, off up the A9 Autobahn this morning for lunch with Oma Gisela in Bayreuth.

She's the Boss' ex mother in law and the Teens' grandmother. Gisela has two sons and doesn't see either over Christmas (for different reasons). It falls to the Boss to make sure her girls keep in touch with their Oma, which isn't a problem as they still get on like a house on fire.

Gisela speaks no English, but plenty of French and Russian (she was an Ossie). We communicate in French mostly, with Russian to fill in the gaps. This can cause enormous fun at times, and occasional grumpiness when the others don't get the joke.

Anyway, it was a lovely family meal (with me bolted on for light entertainment). A fondue - the meat and veg version. Gisela's award winning potato salad (don't tell anyone, but every Oma's potato salad is the best).

Then coffee, Stollen, Sekt, Plätzchen and more coffee. Then more Sekt

We even had snow about 3pm.

I was ready for a few verses of Wagner after the 2nd Sekt.

The Blip is the view from my resting place after the fondue, as I was force fed the after lunch goodies. A very German living room, I reckon.

Gemütlich.
