Boxing Day 2014
This splendid building on George Street in the New Town of Edinburgh is known as the Dome and was built in1847 as the headquarters of the Commercial Bank of Scotland.
These days it serves as an opulent bar, restaurant and conference venue. Today it was dressed up in all its finery for Christmas and full of happy revellers. But outside, a few homeless souls were huddled on the pavement, shivering in the bitter cold. Charles Dickens would recognise the scene!
