Wall is not over in Prague
One of the best-loved sights in Prague is the Lennon Wall. Since the 1980s people have painted messages on this wall, including song lyrics, pictures of John Lennon, and peace-inspired graffiti. The Wall is owned by the Knights of Malta and they approve of the graffiti. For the 25th anniversary of the Velvet Revolution a group painted the wall white and left the message "Wall is over". The Knights of Malta filed a complaint because of what was regarded as vandalism. The complaint was dropped after they had discussions with the group who painted the wall. Prague being Prague, and the wall being the wall, the wall is not over. the message "Wall is over" has been altered to "War is over" and portraits of Lennon and various messages adorn the wall anew ... The wall is not static. Each time I see it, I see something new. I still think my first time was the best and I regret that some aspects of the wall that I loved have disappeared, but the spirit of the wall continues. Wall is not over!
