escaping the madness...

Dave and I have rented a house for a few nights in Arthur's Pass, an alpine village a couple of hours drive from home. Not much traffic on the road. The house is retro and very cosy. This photo is from the car on the way up but I took a few on the lovely sunny walk we took past the Bridal Veil falls as well. Hard to choose! Saw a kereru at the very end of the walk but it refused to cooperate and stayed in the shadows. It was so warm and sunny on the hour and a half walk up above the bush line and out of the wind. Got a good sweat up! The track is excellent and well built, thanks DoC or whoever looks after such things.

An Aussie woman asked me, when I was taking photos of the kereru, if it was a Kiwi. I explained kiwis do not fly.....
