Flowering quince...flowering!

I found this morning that a few of the tight red buds on our Quince (Chaenomeles speciosa?) had opened. It seemed most appropriate for the morning after the winter solstice, but must be a sign of the relatively mild spell we are having...so actually, probably quite worrying!
