Iridescence in the heavens

Sometimes, albeit very rarely, a visit to the supermarket can lift the spirits. Today was such a day, on the way there we encountered this beautiful iridescent cloud hanging in the sky. Nature's Christmas lights at their best!


Iridescent clouds are a diffraction phenomenon caused by small water droplets or small ice crystals acting as prisms and individually scattering light.
