Urban landscape
We had open sky for a short time yesterday. But no more snow and no further sign of snow. Forecast says it might snow lightly on the 24th in time for Christmas. Seeing is believing.
This is taken in Sokol district in Moscow. Named apparently after the first housing cooperative formed in the USSR in the district. In olden times it was the village of Vsekhsvyatskoye ("All Saints"), a settlement on the way to St Petersburg, which traced back in various forms to the XIV century. The village was absorbed into the expanding Moscow in the 1920s. The trolley bus line reached Sokol in 1933, and the metro in 1937.
