Chickens for Christmas!

I sit on the Board of  a charity here called Vwira mental health.  It is a small organisation which supports people with mental health issues in their own homes.  Today was their Christmas party and as there are two groups in different areas we had to do the same thing twice.  It was great fun to meet these people who are supported by trained volunteers and assisted to make sure they take their mediation regularly and have someone to talk to if they feel out of their depth.

As the Board Chair did not turn up I had to step in and be the guest of honour and make a speech and give out the gifts, one of which was a live chicken for everyone!  There were a lot of smiling faces.

This guy did not dress up for the occasion but this is his usual attire - in 35 degree heat!!  His vest is made from a maize sack and he wears a few different necklaces including a couple of crosses.  He says he wears what the spirits tell him to wear!!!
