Vazon...

Vazon is on the west coast of the island. This is where you will find the surfers. But today you have a couple with their dog and a dad with his little child flying a kite. Ideal kite flying weather because the wind was pretty strong.

From here I walked along the coast heading north, passing Albecq which is a rocky headland of pink granite. It looks really beautiful contrasted against a bright blue sky and sea. Today neither the sky nor the sea was blue.

Beyond Albecq is Cobo; another lovely sandy beach and maybe the best place in the island for sunsets. There were half a dozen people swimming at Cobo. I imagine it was fairly cold in the water but because it was low tide and their clothes were right up against the sea wall they had a long windy walk down to the sea and back. Hardy souls indeed!

I got the bus back to town from Cobo. Next on my list is the next beach along at Grandes Rocques, or Saline Bay, which was our favourite for Sundays when I was around 10 or 11.
