Newly born lambs
A lovely sunny day for our work ramble around the old roman city of Calleva at Silchester. We had a lovely 7 mile walk through fields and around the old city walls. Despite all the recent rain, it was not too muddy. We only had to dodge a few very squidgy bits around gates where cattle and sheep had been in and out.
We startled this sheep as we traipsed through the corner of a field. She had just given birth to these twins and we gave her a very wide berth as she was eyeing us with great suspicion. The lambs got up and started tottering around as we watched. I love their huge ears.
At the end of the walk we went back to one of my friend's houses for drinks and nibbles in his garden. He's just set up a hive in his garden so we watched the bees arriving home laden with pollen.
After a sit down and a drink, we headed to the local Indian restaurant for their Sunday all-you-can eat buffet.
Good walk, good company and good food. Great way to spend one of the very few sunny days we've had recently.
