Missing Apples

My favorite fruit on the planet is the humble apple. I discovered to my great surprise that Piggly Wiggly, the lesser of the two grocery stores at which I shop, carries quite a variety of them. This, and two kinds of Naleczowianka mineral water, the carbonated and the non-carbonated one. Why carry Polish mineral water in Starkville, MS??? But I digress. Apples. The diversity of flavors is amazing. Textures, water content, and different aromas make such difference! Some are great for eating raw, others make amazing apple sauce or Polish apple cake named szarlotka. Some are perfect for baking or for stewing to be served in crepes. Some make awesome apple wedges to eat with cheese.

This particular guy is of the Jazz variety. Crisp, tangy, stews well. And looks good when photographed.
