Lakeside Morning
On those days when I'm awake early, and there's the chance of some decent light, I'll tend to head out to the lake nearby - it's less than 10 minutes away from my house, and the local atmospheric conditions can get interesting. For me, the worst case is that I'm out in the fresh air and practicing my passion.
This image was a little challenging, with light areas in the sky and in the reflections on the surface of the lake, contrasting with the almost black of the far shore, coupled with an intense bright spot where the sun was rising. I got round this by utilising a 0.9 hard ND grad to bring down the sky (in the normal manner) along with hand holding a 0.9 soft ND grad at about 45 degrees to cover off the sun. This close to water, all I kept thinking was 'don't drop your filter!'.
