Blue beard
Maxine and I have been planning a re-union of folks we played music with in the early 1980's for February 2015. And through the early appeals came I got back in contact with Mark Christopher. Our lives touched and crossed 30 years ago and we went very different ways. Essentially let down by the poor teaching at his school (resulting in few qualifications despite being in the top set), at 16, and few other options, Mark opted for the army as the best way to pursue his passion for music. (Other contemporaries at that time, passed their 'O' Levels and went on to 'A' levels and then to Uni to study music).
Mark has no regrets (sporting a big hat and red coat, features on several postcards of London & been part of some amazing ceremonies) as part of the army marching band. This morning I really enjoyed catching up with him in Croydon.
You may have noticed the blue beard? He says that once he left the army and got the chance to choose for himself - he went for it with a vengeance!
Enjoy the London gig tonight Mark, and safe journey home to Dorset later.
