COLOURFUL DISPLAY

We had our usual trip out to The Old Bank today for our "Coffee Club" meeting with the various friends who meet there every week - it was a very pleasant interlude - we were talking about the real meaning of Christmas and how we were sad that it had now become very commercialised. I said that the very name "Christ-Mas" did give a clue as to what it was all about when one lady, who is not usually there, took exception and said that if she wanted to be preached at, she would go to church - and then she and her husband left.  It was a little more than "Bah Humbug" and I felt very sad that she felt they had to leave.

Walking along the street afterwards, we came across this lovely display of fruit and vegetables - so although possibly the only thing that is really "Christmassy" is the stem of sprouts - because you can’t have Christmas dinner without them - I thought it would make a good blip for today.

Hope you all have a great weekend and are looking forward to spending time with your family and loved ones over Christmas.

For all those who know Estelle - Raestelle - I was concerned that she hadn't blipped for a while, so I contacted her daughter, who said that Estelle has been poorly and has found it difficult coping with the computer and blip and with communication generally.  She is hoping that Estelle and John will be visiting them in the New Year, so I will pass on any further news.  In the meantime, I have asked April to pass on to Estelle the best wishes of all her blip friends.

"Let us ask the Lord
to help us see through
the superficial glitter of this season,
and to discover behind it
the child in the stable
in Bethlehem,
so as to find true joy and true light."
Pope Benedict
