Lambeth walk
An early trip into London today to take a family member for a post-op checkup at St Thomas's. All was well, but not so the barista's coffee machine in the little Italian cafe alongside the clinic waiting area. It was playing up, and a couple of engineers were busy at working trying to resolve the problem. it was interesting to see inside, where the innards are basically a large boiler and a spaghetti of electric wiring. It is rather a mundane source from which delicious espresso and cappuccino are magically extracted. Not pretty enough to blip, either.
As we drove away from the hospital, and waited at nearby traffic lights, my eye was drawn by this scene of dayglo cyclist and vivid green bus outside the posh hotel. It occupies a circular island of a building that once housed overflow offices alongside the Greater London Council's headquarters. London has changed rather a lot since the days of Ken Livingstone and his merry crew!
