Sarcoccoca humilis

There can't be many plants with so many "c" in its generic name. The Sweet Box, so called because of it's overpowering perfume in January and February, see my book "All Year Plants in Flower" page 22. However although the buds are forming it's great to note so many black shiny berries, which have taken about 10 months to ripen, good job strawberries don't take that long. One advantage is that the birds aren't too familiar with them so leave them alone for us to enjoy
