Alpha Incident

The Big Three

There is a window of about three weeks during winter each year when, thanks to the shorter days, you can take off just after sundown at 16:29, before Tokyo Heliport closes at 16:30. I took advantage of this to take another doors-off flight over Tokyo with a fellow photographer.

The falling light levels as the 30-minute flight progressed were quite challenging. I shot everything in manual, and had a lot of out-of-focus rejects when I didn't bother to magnify to check precise focus.

Here I managed to get three well-known Tokyo sights in a single frame, namely the Tokyo Skytree in the foreground, a distant Tokyo Tower (orange), and Mount Fuji on the horizon.
