Winter on the River

Normally, there should be a little ice on the river, but the waters run fast and clear. It looks like quicksilver in the low winter sun...the clouds filtering the light to monochrome. As the trees march off in the distance, my dog and I turn around and march the other way toward home and a warm fire.
