Derelict Thursday: Glimpsed through the trees

The Elvian School in Reading closed in 2010. The site holds a mix of old and more modern buildings, and there has been a battle between property developers and those who wish the site to continue to be used for educational use. The developers had their planning application turned down, their appeal was dismissed, and though they appealed to the High Court for a judicial review that was turned down - so at some point, a new school may well open on the site, re-using some of the buildings.

This is one of the older buildings, shot over a wall and through trees from the Bath Road - the site is secured with no entry for the public. It's in a pretty sorry state, with the roof shedding tiles, and the windows gone, but I think that decay somewhat enhances its gothic look.
