Weeping Grass
I have a long list of things to do before Christmas but I knocked quite a number off today including mowing the lawn and weeding. After pulling out a 'weed' I realised it was not a weed but Microlaena stipoides and there were still some remaining! Now if you are not into local native plants this won't be all that exciting but, as there have been no plantings of this anywhere near our place this has to be a remanent of the original pre-European bush. :)
This plant, especially without seeds, is difficult to identify as it looks extremely similar to a very common invasive weed from South Africa called Ehrharta.
Weeping Grass is also native to New Zealand and some Pacific Islands.
