Thing-y

Just testing the Far Side of Blip - due to being away from home and the usual hardware and software, this is regrettably a photo taken on an iPad in low light. This brass thing-y on the end of a long stick is only needed in buildings of a certain age (for grappling fixtures at the top of tall windows, gas fittings, etc etc). It almost certainly has a proper name.
