bidding adieu to the Goddess

today's is bijoya dashami - the last day of the 5-day long festival. on this day, the mortals bid farewell to the goddess, who after a brief stay at her parents house (earth), goes back to the heavenly abode to be with her husband. people dance to the traditional drum beats, dance with the holy smoke and immerse the idols in water. with that, a yearlong wait for the festival begins.
