Old and Rare

I had the pleasure of attending a tasting at the Scotch Malt Whisky Society of drams that were all distilled in the 1970's and bottled in the 1980's or 90's. The whiskies all started life before the chemists really got underneath what made 'good' whisky so these were all far more traditional than you would normally expect to taste. As usual some real gems came out, if only they were available to buy they would be great sellers but unfortunately these were the last bottles of these casks so never again will anyone taste these particular drams.
