A solitary hillwalker

Today Nellie and I went for a walk in the rain. We decided to go up the way for a change and look how high we got! (Be impressed J!)

We walked in the rain and the sun. Nellie went mad with delight when up popped this solitary hillwalker who kindly agreed to let me take his picture after playing with her. We chatted and he told me about his very enjoyable night in our local pub! He had come back to the area on holiday after an illness to start climbing again.Nellie did what gundogs do and quartered back and forth, tail wagging, flushing out birds.

In the background the lines in the hills are the "parallel roads". They are the shorelines of a large loch formed 10,000 years ago at the end of the Ice Age. We were in fact standing on one when I took this photo!

A spectacular, beautiful, wild place!

Nellie came home and promptly lay down and started snoring and I had a desperately needed cup of tea!
