Miniature Castle
So I am alive and well, have had to hit the ground running since arriving in the warmth of Darwin. Been so busy at work and trying to find a place to live that the first thing I had to sacrifice was my blip journal. Still haven't found a house yet but on Sunday I decided to take a break and check out the Litchfield National Park. As we were heading out there we stopped at a little town called Batchelor and came across this little marvel. This is only part of the whole miniature castle but found it so cute it had to make the blip.
This is a miniature replica of the Karlstein Castle and was built between 1974 and 1978 by Czechoslavakian Bernard Havlik. According to legend, he was so homesick that in his spare time after retiring from work at the Rum Jungle Uranium Mine, he set out building a beautiful castle to remind him of home. Very fitting as I have felt a little homesick since getting here, not to the point that I feel the need to build a replica of any buildings from home though.
As we continued on to the national park we found some amazing waterfalls. Unfortunately my tripod is still in transit halfway between Brisbane and Darwin with all my other stuff so I couldn't achieve the shots I wanted so will have to go back when I have all my gear. Stay posted I will blip them when I get them.
CB you would of peed your pants with excitement if you saw the waterfalls I saw, I will definately take you there when you come here.
Till next time!!!
So finally I have found out that my elusive D800 arrived at the shop I preordered it from but because I have moved in the meantime I now have to wait til it arrives here. At least I know it is in transit and I should get it any day now...... ???Sleeps...
