Team Pursuit
A leg of the UCI world Championships at Manchester Velodrome, home to the British Cycling Team.
The three riders are completing the Team Pursuit.
Four riders chase another team of four riders at the opposite side of the track. the team which catches the other or covers the distance quickest wins.
The lead rider in each team peels off the front and rejoins the back of the team in a seamless movement. This is repeated usually every lap.
The time is taken when the third rider crosses the line, so typically, only the three cross the line together.
The riders here are racing under the name 100% Me.
They are the up and coming names in british track cycling and will become the replacements for folks like Chris Hoy and Bradley Wiggins.
The team name is a statement on British Cycling's stance against performance enhancing drugs.
