40,000 People Went for a Walk....
The Mothers Day Classic is a fun run/walk to raise awareness and money for Breast Cancer research. In 2012, over125,000 Australians across the country donned pink attire and went for a Sunday morning walk. 40,000 of those people did so in Melbourne. Torrential downpours, sideways rain and blustery chilled winds could not dampen the smiles and laughter of families out and about to celebrate the lives of those they've lost and those who have survived. It is inspiring!
There was no chance of my camera surviving those conditions so my blip was taken thereafter and is of a window display in Melbournes' Bourke Street Mall. There was a little girl who was pointing it out to her Mum.
"I wanted to get you those Mum, but Dad said that dress next to them was a better idea...he's not very smart is he Mum?"
This was to be met with a classic 'mum only' line.
"No sweety, but he is your Dad, so best do what he says and we'll pretend he got it right".
One small child's ideals saved again by a quick thinking Mum who now ownes a really nice dress.
To all Mums, Happy Mothers Day! Thanks for creativly interpreting our unique drawings and attempts, as children, at floristry and craft. Also nice work on the 'tactful' responses and words of encouragement - it's impressive stuff by all accounts!
Incidentally, to all those who sent messages of support last week, many thanks..I still do not know how - but I have been lucky enough to keep my job - thanks again, it meant alot!
