Ivy League at Symphony Hall

What an amazing night.

It started dramatically as we were ten minutes into our journey when DD realised she had forgotten her glasses so we had to turn round and get them. Then there was a rather frantic drive into town so we were not late. As it was the whole event was running late anyway.

The event was Region 31 Sweet Adelines Barbershop Convention.

Basically there are two ladies barbershop associations in Britain. Sweet Adelines (which is global) and LABBS which is British. My chorus belongs to LABBS.

There is no Sweet ads chorus in this part of the MIdlands but they hold their competition in Birmingham.

DD is part of Ivy league which is a youth chorus supported by both LABBS and Sweet Ads.

They were amazing. They sang beauty and the beast and big yellow taxi. All in four part harmony. The lead section is where all the little ones go. My daughter being one and they had a reoccurring part where they voices were showcased and it never failed to raise an "aaah". I could hear my daughters voice as well. She sang beautifully and it made me cry. A lot. The mom next to me handed me a tissue.

We then stayed and watched the show. The highlight being Finesse. Top 10 quartet in the world! Wonderfully they are from Britain and their Bass was directing Ivy league.

The talent was spectacular. When one of the choruses sang firework DD was well impressed.

We left at 11pm as we were both getting tired. I imagine the singing is still going on.

Just brilliant. So proud of my wonderful little girl!!!!

Only four years until DS can join the boys youth chorus.....fingers crossed.
