Get it together, ANC (or please let it fall apart)

These dramatic headlines are posted on every post on Main Road... the next day declared that Zuma wanted to talk to Tutu, and the next day held serious threats from the ANC elite against those considering a split from the party. Common opinion holds that a split would be a very, very good thing, since the ANC is currently SA's *only* ruling party and it has been failing its people in big ways recently.

Meanwhile, the rand is falling much faster than the dollar, and now each dollar yields me 9.5 rand; when I got here a month ago, the exchange rate was 7. In spite of the fall, our days go on as they always did. The townships aren't getting any less services (that would be pretty tough to achieve), and I'm working with the students on their double- and triple-bottom-line business plans to make good things happen for their communities themselves. They are naturals at social entrepreneurship, and in this I find great hope.
