Checkmate

For some reason, Emma was desperate for me to fish out an old set of Lewis chessmen from a cupboard. She's never played before, but having laid them out and spent five minutes showing her the basic moves, we put them away.

This evening, she fetched them out again and to our amazement, laid the board out correctly first time all by herself! Photographic memory perhaps?

With me having other things to do, she persuaded her big sister to play. G hasn't played chess much and certainly not for years, so it will be interesting to see who wins:)

All this, just a day after Emma found a bookmark with the Morse code on it and was so excited when she found she could send me messages by tapping. Her eyes are open so wide at the moment.
