Island Post

Post box 149

Is this the most scenic post box in Guernsey? The sun is shining and the countryside is luscious and green. The island in the background is Lihou Island to which you can walk at low tide. The crossing times are mentioned on the local radio, but unwary tourists are often caught by the tide and left stranded. There is one house on Lihou run by a charitable trust which is rented typcially by youth groups etc. In the past the island was famous for its seaweed eating sheep. Also, iodine used to be made from the seaweed there.
