Come Into My parlour ....
Firstly I apologise for the not so good quality of today's blip due to strong winds today - but the sheer novelty of it won out over better pictures!
See it in more gory detail HERE!
I took a walk around the front area of County Hall during lunchbreak today. It's been a pretty good day, lots of sun, some cloud - but rather windy. So I decided to go on another Shield bug hunt, inspired by the wind-hampered shots I took of one a week or so ago. No Shield bugs to be found of course (although the grassy area, currently festooned with dandelions, which runs in front of and to the side of County Hall is BIG, and a full search would take all day!) I did manage shots of bees on dandelions, a couple of earwigs and a ladybird on a Dandelion clock. I even spotted 2 small bees having some 'personal contact' on one Dandelion, but the shots I managed to get of them were really bad in that wind - such a shame, I'd love to have blipped some bee porn! lol. In a more sheltered area, at one point I noticed a small fly on a Dandelion, with something behind it. Even with my glasses on, the angle of view made it hard to tell exactly what it was. But I took a couple of sideways-on shots anyway. It was only when I uploaded the pics I'd taken to my laptop in the office and had a good look at the only half-decent full size shot, that I realised what I'd captured. Although not perfectly clear, it was the fly being snared by a small spider which must have been sneakily laying in wait on the flower! With some tweaking in my editor I managed to make a reasonable shot from it so just HAD to blip it. Though the bee -on-Dandelion shots were far better quality, there are so many of them being blipped at present that I felt this shot made a nice change - it's so unusual - and there's nothing like a bit of novelty to stop things getting boring! I've blipped the photo at the same angle I took it as although the Dandelion looks a bit odd sideways-on, it gives a much better view of the spider and fly that way.
I rather liked this pollen drenched bee. . Here's another foraging bee. This is the ladybird on the Dandelion clock. Finally this is another type of bee..
It's Friday, the weekend starts here and I'm so pleased about that. Have a good 'un blippers! xx
