Red ones snack

2years 202days

This may seem a fairly nondescript (although rather cheeky) blip. But it captures a smile, a memory that made me laugh a lot last night. Katie has taken to getting in to bed, then deciding that she needs some supper, a snack. Normally this is just a cracker or two, or a banana. Last night, I took her some crackers and they were adamantly rejected. "No, not that one snack, thats not right". I asked her which snack she wanted, offered her the normal alternatives. "No, get the red one snack". I explained I didnt know what she meant. "The red one snack, like the blue one, in the cupboard". She was getting quite frustrated and in the end said to me "Katie go get it and show Mummy". She took me downstairs to the kitchen, and went to the apricots. I knew then exactly what she meant. After her swimming lesson, Katie gets a bag of dried apricots in the cafeteria. And you've guessed it, they're blue. Last night she ate almost the entire big bag of them, she finished them off this morning.

The photo also reminds me of another "Katie-ism" from this morning. Almost as soon as she got up, she was asking for jelly. "Crash jelly". Told me the whole "its in the fridge" business, "Mummy go find it", and eventually I accepted I didnt know what she meant and we went to look. She wanted a jelly that has a crab on it.

It's been an early to nursery day for her today as Maike's opening up. It works well though as I've got an assignment to polish for today then one to crack on with for tomorrow. I hate this finishing to deadline, but it seems the only way it works with juggling toddler, photography and study.
