It's that way...
All these tourists asking for directions... Well, the Duke of Wellington has obviously got fed up of telling them where to go and now just points in the right direction!
This is the statue of the Duke of Wellington that sits outside the National Archives of Scotland, and opposite the Balmoral Hotel, on Princes Street in Edinburgh. This is the view coming out of the National Archives, looking up The Bridges. The statue was sculpted in bronze by Sir John Steel (1804 - 1891) and erected outside Register House in 1852 among much celebration. The Duke, a modest chap, was apparently so pleased that he commissioned two further versions of the sculpture, one for his home, Apsley House and the other for Eton London.
