Viaduct over the Almond

In Almondell Country Park the river Almond tumbles down through beautiful tree covered slopes. Crossing the river are many old bridges. This viaduct once carried the railway that belonged to the Shale mines at Pumpherston.
Now it is the pathway for walkers and cyclists on the National Way 75.
Today I met a couple of retired folk who were walking from Land's End to John O' Groats on this path. They had begun their walk in Cornwall on the 1st of March. They were going on little tracks and byways away from cities and traffic. I think they probably had another 300 miles and more to go. I salute them!
