A Pair of Red Kites

Having been out of luck in our quest for Red Kites yesterday and with the rain still holding off we ventured to Bwlch Nant-yr-Arian where we would be guaranteed a sight of dozens of my favourite birds. This is a Forestry Commission amenity and we arrived just before 3:00pm which is feeding time. I was astonished at the number of other visitors present, more than I have ever seen there before, until V reminded me that this is a bank holiday weekend.

Not having had a proper view of the birds for several months I took all my photo gear as I was determined to take some decent photos. V decided she would also like a go at taking some photos so I lent her one of my cameras and a long lens. In the end she took more than me.

When we got back to the caravan we looked at the photos on the computer and I deleted all mine as they were not up to scratch. However, V, a non-photographer, had some beauties. We selected this photo as it is somewhat unusual in having two birds in the frame, both in focus. I certainly wish I had taken it.
