What's blue and red?
Wooah it's hot in the city today.
Woke up to the first blue and sunny sky since I arrived. Perfect for viewing Moshe Safdie's totally surreal and monstrously beautiful creation at Marina Bay Sands, I thought. Slathered my whiter than white skin with factor 100 and off I went.
Ooh so good to see ... sat and had an iced coffee while admiring it from across the water, thinking how great it looked against the blue sky.
When I first saw it, I thought it was meant to be a boat but in fact, the inspiration was an aircraft. Which is quite clear actually. Doh. Anyway, the three towers house a casino and hotel. On very top, where you can make out the palm trees, there is an infinity swimming pool (crazy), restaurant and bar. AstOUnding views of course.
Had about an hour's walk around before I headed back with a smug smirk. The colour of the sky had made it worth lugging my camera under the fierce sun.
When I got back to the apartment two things became apparent:
1. All my pics were blue. No, I hadn't inadvertently snapped a risqué photo shoot ... but I had somehow managed to change the white balance settings. They were a nauseating, hideous blue, which is somewhat ironical since I had wanted the blue sky. I'm sure the photoshop experts amongst you will cheerfully tell me that there was an alternative to converting them to black and white but I like to spend as little time as possible in photoshop.
2. My toes were/are scarlet and very sunburned. Forgot to slather them.
What a supreme twit of the highest order, Iam.
