I had a wander up to the Royal Mile with a work colleague at lunchtime today. He was born & bred in Scotland, so does have a somewhat cynical view of the shops there, but I told him there must have been some kind of evolutionary pressure that resulted in these surviving. As far as I'm concerned, the more attractions & shops for visitors, the better.
Such as this stall selling Scottish handmade jewellery. I was taking her portraits while my colleague was mesmerised watching some bloke swallow an orange balloon in front of a big-for-this-time-of-year crowd. So he can't be all that cynical.
