Traditions
It's a wet (drabbin' awful) Bank Holiday Sunday (and it's supposed to be MAY for goodness sake!)...so what to do? Keep up the tradition, of course, and visit a DIY store!
So this was Mr A carrying his 2 lengths of conduit along one of the aisles of our local DIY store. And now the wiring around the new "work room" is carefully housed within the conduit running along the skirting board - very neat indeed. I also picked up some wallpaper samples for the small front bedroom. Mind you, we did also squeeze in a quick Bank Holiday treat - a 99 ice cream cone each (and a medium sized one at that...really pushing the boat out here).
Now at this point I feel I ought to explain my extreme fondness for 99's. You see, when I was a kid of about ten they were what taught me to swim.
My Dad (bless him) offered that if I could swim a width of the (it has to be said rather small) pool at the Pontin's holiday camp, he would reward me with a 99 ice cream (knowing that I loved them, but only had them as a rare treat). Well, that incentive did it. I managed eight widths of the pool.
So, the next day, he offered me a 99 ice cream if I could swim a length of the pool. Fully "incentivised" I proudly swam (splashed or at least properly propelled myself although with no great style) the length of the pool no less than TWELVE times.
At which point, my Dad declared that he reckoned I could swim!
