The Polling Place
So it was city council election day.
I was quite disheartened when I went to vote at around 6pm because I overheard the ladies manning the desk say that they'd had 150-something voters through the door since 7 o'clock that morning, out of potentially thousands.
There's a happier end to the story though because once the hustings were done the turnout was 45.3%. Still under half the ward bothered themselves to vote but I'm guessing there was a late surge or a heck of a lot of postal votes.
Anyway, I exercised my democratic right to vote so I can continue to bemoan the state of things with impunity. Hoorah!
