Magic Cabaret

This evening I went along to 'Phenomenon Magic Cabaret' - a regular event that takes place on the first Sunday of each month (at the Old Post Office, if you're in the area). It's organised and run by a friend of mine so as well as enjoying the various acts I'm also the event photographer, which is a handy way to avoid being picked to come up and assist during the performance. The light level is a little way outside the comfort zone for my camera, hence the artistically grainy look.

Yesterday I missed the first act (who is also a dentist as well as a magician) due to a schedule clash with a takeaway biriyani, but I made it along for the rest - this is Mark James who came down from Manchester for the final act - he'd just put the long needle through the balloon and then removed it before this photo, and it was about to drift down and pop on the very same needle. It's a very entertaining evening and is drawing a good crowd - well worth coming along if you are in the area.
