European Eagle Owl ~ Dory

Had a look at Skipton's Waterway festival today and the theme is 'Great Britain' for this year's Jubilee. This is where the message on Friday's canal boat comes from.

Came across Dory along with other owls and an eagle from a nearby falconry centre. Dory is 5 years old with a 5ft wing span. European Eagle Owls used to be native to the UK however as our forrests reduced, the owls moved back into Europe. Their main stronghold is now the Black Forrest in Germany.

Been out for most of the weekend or catching up with things and now to catch up with fellow blipper's journals.

It's been another sunny day :)
