Le Château

I've nearly blipped this view several times, but ended up choosing something else. This is the entrance to the château that forms the centre of our circular village. There isn't much left of the château itself, but the central courtyard has been turned into an amphitheatre which will certainly be blipped at some point this summer. The nearest archway is part of the clocktower, so it's not original. And the former ramparts now have houses built on them -- including ours.

There used to be a house on the left, where the red tree is -- but it fell down one night of heavy rain about 30 years ago. Maybe the same fate would have befallen our house if M, the previous owner and now a friend, hadn't bought it and restored it.

Edit: off out in a minute for an apéro géant (well, by our standards) sur la place. I think we are all pretty sure what the election result is going to be.

Second edit: if you want to know what a soirée électorale looks like chez nous, I put a few photos in my blipfolio.
