Fields of Yellow
With the sun beguiling us out into the fresh air and a cycle run, His Lordship loaded the bikes on to the car and we took them down to the shore to avoid the 5 miles of urban deprivation between us and the coast.
In the sunshine, but withe ever-present cold air, we cycled through Longniddry, Trabroun and Samuelston to Bolton and Haddington before climbing over to Coates and Garleton and back down to Longniddry and the coast.
The big grey cloud which we could see over Edinburgh caught up with us and we got the drips off the edge of it together with a plummeting temperature.
However, it was short-lived and we managed our seat in the sun with a warming cup of tea at No42 the Harbour at Port Seton, while watching rowers competing in a sailing regatta.
The fields of bright yellow rape which would have seemed to us ridiculously out of place in the landscape years ago, were in full flourish, stretching in some places as far as the eye could see, and adding a sparkle to the land underneath a patchy blue sky.
This blip was taken at Bolton a little hamlet near Haddington just before the rain cloud caught up with us.
